Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, August 9, he indicated that inflation went up to 43.1%.
This is a slight jump from the 42.5% recorded in the month of June 2023.
“Year-on-year inflation for the month of July 2023 stood at 43.1%. This literally means that between July 2022 and July 2023, general prices of goods and services on average went up by 43.1%,” Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim announced today.
He continued, “We did record month-on-month inflation that is between June 2023 and July 2023 rate of 3.6%. This rate of 3.6% indicates a 0.4 percentage point increase relative to the rate that was recorded in June 2023 which stood at 2%.”
This is an indication that the country is witnessing a reversal in the slow-down of the month-on-month inflation that was seen in June 2023.
This is the third month in a row that inflation has gone up.
