Center for Social Impact Studies(CeSIS) has said that the contribution of Ghanaian youth to the country’s development has been downplayed.

According to CeSIS, it is as a result of the country’s inability to meet the needs of the youth, especially in the areas of unemployment, inclusive development and access to socio-economic opportunities.

Commemorating International Youth Day(IYD) CeSIS in a press statement said

the theme for IYD this year, thus “Green Skills For Youth” could not have come at an opportune time for Ghana.

The group said the theme gives Ghana an opportunity as a country to begin to look at “greener” ways of mining, which remain the backbone of the economy.

Part of the statement said: “The country is currently witnessing the unprecedented destruction of its natural resources like never
before in its history.”
