KMA Boss Commissions 6-Unit Classroom Facility, Two Institutional Toilets At Suburbs In Kumasi.2 min read
The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon Samuel Pyne on Monday morning was joined by the Member of Parliament for Bantama and the Chief of Adumanu to commission the first phase of a 6-unit classroom block built with ancillary facilities and stocked with furniture and marker boards.
The project, which was undertaken with funds from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and RFG, was completed at a cost of GHC 810, 838.35 having been constructed by Derkak Company Limited.
Two other facilities commissioned on the day by the KMA boss were a Nine seater institutional sanitation facility for Higher Institute of Islamic School at Buokrom and a nine seater institutional sanitation facility for the Obiri Yeboah M/A Primary and Junior High School at Amakom.
These two sanitation facilities were constructed by Modern Star Plumbing and Construction Company with funds from the World Bank.
Each of them cost GHC 1, 242, 238.53 and consisted of toilets for male and female pupils as well as teachers and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
To ensure hygiene is kept at high levels, hand washing basins and water reservoir tanks had been fitted inside the facility.
Advice:
Addressing the gathering at Bantama and school authorities at Buokrom and Amakom, the KMA boss tasked school authorities to maintain the facilities so that it could last long for the school and users.
He asked the pupils and students to do their best in terms of their academics since that was the purpose the government was expending funds on the projects.
The mayor commended the contractor as well as stakeholders in the education sector including the Local Government Ministry for continually investing in infrastructure to make learning and studying enjoyable.
‘’The KMA under the Local Government Ministry is committed to investing resources into making education so that we can get optimum outcomes and we urge that all stakeholders including school authorities do their in ensuring that projects and infrastructure provided for schools are maintained at all times to serve the purpose they were carried out’’, the Mayor asserted.
Member Of Parliament:
Hon Francis Asenso Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama commended the KMA for ensuring the school project for the Adumanu MA was completed.
He also thanked the Chief of the community as well as other stakeholders in the community for showing particular interest in the project.
Chief:
Nana Kwame Frimpong Akowuah III, Chief of Adumanu commended the KMA and its Chief Executive for completing the first phase of the one storey building for the Basic school and prayed that the second phase was commenced soon.
The Chief, however, requested for a fence wall around the school so that the pupils could be spared the agony of seeing ‘’weed smokers’’, squatters and intruders on the school compound when classes were in session.
