Kotoko Drop Points At Home Again, Samartex Snatch Late Win Against Hearts1 min read
The Porcupines had previously given away an early lead in their recent encounter which ended in a stalemate against Tamale City and had aimed to redeem themselves against the Miners while they keep their title hopes alive.
Having been kept on the sidelines due to injury, Solomon Safo-Taylor only returned against Tamale City but produced a standout performance on Sunday by striking in the fifth minute to give the Porcupines the lead.
However, Abednego Tetteh rose above his marker to smash home a cross from Prince Owusu who swung in a great pass after taking on his opponent in stoppage time.
Kotoko are still sixth on the table while Bibiani Gold Stars remain seventh.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak were stunned at the Nsekyire Sports Stadium as Samartex came from behind to snatch a late win against the Phobians. Hearts of Oak equalised an early goal through Gideon Mensah’s strike in the first and later took the lead through Linda Mtange.
However, Samartex ensured their home record was intact as they extended their winning streak to four after scoring in the 80th and 95th minutes.
While Samartex rose to eighth, Hearts of Oak have dropped to fifth below fourth-placed Berekum Chelsea who thrashed Accra Lions 4-0 at the Golden City Park.
Elsewhere Great Olympics returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Kotoku Royals who have now been confirmed relegated after the defeat.
Legon Cities secured a 3-2 win over Nsoatreman despite finishing with 10 men while Dreams FC held to a goalless draw against Real Tamale United.
