Rotary Club of Kumasi-Nhyieso Conducts Hearing Assessment for New Aboabo KG/Primary School Children1 min read
The Nhyiaeso Rotary Club in Kumasi, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pleasant Valley (USA), Rotaract Club of Kumasi, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and Ghana Health Service, have organized a complimentary hearing assessment program for learners at New Aboabo KG/Primary School.
The school’s stakeholders enthusiastically welcomed the initiative as learners from Basic 1-3 underwent screening.

Mr. Jerry Senyo Kojo Otchi emphasized that the data gathered would aid in planning and addressing hearing issues in children.
Mrs. Rita Nyarko, President of the Kumasi-Nhyiaeso Rotary Club, reiterated the club’s commitment to preventing childhood hearing problems and enhancing learning through initiatives like the hearing assessment program.
She underscored the assessment’s role in identifying children with hearing impairments, often exacerbated by playful behaviors like inserting objects into their ears.
Rev. Solomon Anum Doku, Asokore Mampong Municipal Health Director, commended the Kumasi-Nhyiaeso Rotary Club for its proactive approach, noting the assessment’s importance in early detection and management of hearing issues among students.
Mr. Sampson Anawuni, Asokore Mampong Municipal Director of Education, expressed delight at the exercise, praising the Rotary Club for its benevolent gesture.
He emphasized that early detection of hearing problems would facilitate effective classroom arrangements and improve communication between teachers, parents, and students.
The collaborative effort aimed to foster an inclusive educational environment where every child’s hearing health is prioritized and supported.
