Kwesi Ahwoi’s ‘Anything Can Happen’ Comment Will Have Impact On NDC Campaign – Prof. Kobby Mensah 1 min read
National Democratic Congress (NDC) founder, Kwesi Ahwoi has drawn criticism for comments he made in a widely shared video in which he gave some guidance to John Dramani Mahama’s running mate for the 2024 elections.
Kwesi Ahwoi encouraged Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang to prepare herself for the role of president because “anything can happen” during the event, which was held at his office in Labone, Accra.
Recounting the events that culminated in John Mahama’s ascension to Ghanaian presidency in 2012, Kwesi Ahwoi proposed a toast and urged Professor Opoku-Agyemang to get ready to take charge should the situation recur.
Adding his voice to the matter, Kobby Mensah, an associate professor at the University of Ghana Business School, asserts that Kwesi Ahwoi’s remark will affect the NDC 2024 election campaign.
According to Prof. Kobby Mensah, the founding member of the NDC was unaware of the repercussions and the controversy his remarks would cause.
In an interview with Nana Kwabena Ampratwum on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM 97.7MHz, he stated that it is reasonable for the public to take offense at his remarks.
He pointed out that Kwasi Ahwoi showed honor by apologizing to the NDC fraternity, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, and John Mahama in a statement.
With the 2024 election quickly approaching, Prof. Kobby Mensah urged Kwasi Ahwoi’s statement to act as a wake-up call for the political parties.
