Security Analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa has attributed the long standing Bawku conflict to lack of political will from our leaders.
According to him, political leaders have come and gone but none has attached urgency and seriousness to bring peace to Bawku.
Speaking on Ama Ghana on Time FM with Kwame Koranteng Monday morning, Dr. Adam Bonaa said Bawku is gradually becoming a no-go area and it needs all hands on deck to bring lasting solution to Bawku.
“You see our political leaders all these years have refused to attach importance to the conflict in Bawku and the issue is gradually getting out of hands.Almost every youth in Bawku has a gun”, he stated.
Dr. Adam Bonaa revealed that Bawku is now a complete war zone with residents fleeing to other towns and it needs concerted efforts by all to arrest perpetrators to bring peace to the land.
He resolved that Bawku has the potential to destabilize the country and mediators must push harder to restore peace.
“You see, our leaders know the war leaders but because of political expediency, fear and back lash, they have failed to provide solutions,” he sadly noted.
Dr. Adam Bonaa regretted that the laws to regulate possession of arms are not so strict hence the proliferation of arms in the area.
