“LGBTQ+ People Are Suffering A Lot, Stop Those Silly Things Against Them” – Okyeame Kwame To Ghanaians1 min read
I think that it’s completely wrong to beat LGBTQ people because you find two men kissing somewhere and you take cameras and video them”
The renowned Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has argued that it is wrong to abuse members of the gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI+) community, because they, too, have rights.
However, the “Yeeko” hitmaker says although he is not against the activities of the LGBTQ+ community, it is up to the nation to determine whether it wants to legalise gay rights.
“I think that it’s completely wrong to beat LGBTQ people because you find two men kissing somewhere and you take cameras and video them, and put them on social media for shaming,” the artist said.
He was speaking on Asaase Radio and monitored by Mytimefm.com.
“But the issue of whether it should be accepted into our culture or not, I think the nation must decide,” Okyeame Kwame said.
“But it is completely wrong to beat a dog, cow, your child, a thief, LGBTQ … it is violence.
“Based on my concept of love, I see that they [LGBTQ people] are suffering a lot and we should cut them slack when it comes to those silly things we do to them,” he said.
