The Western Regional Police Command has taken into custody Nana Ackah, a 37-year-old small-scale miner, in connection with the tragic death of his six-year-old niece, allegedly as part of a suspected money ritual gone awry.

Reportedly, the suspect sought the assistance of a ritualist with hopes of achieving overnight wealth or “pocket no dry” magic.

Tragically, he was informed that, to proceed with the ritual, a sacrifice involving his niece would be required.

Nana Ackah took swift action, telling his niece, Sandra Manu, that he would take her out for a treat. However, during their journey, a concerned relative approached and inquired about their destination. This encounter led to tensions as Nana Ackah expressed his displeasure at the questioning.

While they continued on their way, Sandra Manu inquired about their destination, but her uncle remained tight-lipped.

The situation took a horrifying turn as the young girl began to cry, prompting her uncle to console her with a toffee and urge her to stop.

Tragically, a short time later, Nana Ackah allegedly committed the heinous act, severing the minor’s head with a machete and desecrating her body. He then took these gruesome remains to the ritualist, believing he had fulfilled the requirements.

However, the ritualist clarified that he had not requested the girl’s death, as she was meant to be alive for the money ritual. Nana Ackah subsequently returned to the scene, where he reportedly buried Sandra’s lifeless body.

The grim events took a further twist when Nana Ackah claimed that Sandra had gone missing, alleging that he had asked her to wait for him at a specific location while he tended to nature’s call. A three-day search ensued, with police, family members, and journalists frantically seeking the young girl.

On the third day, Nana Ackah confessed to the crime, leading authorities to the burial site. To their shock, they discovered Sandra’s decapitated body and the other pieces that had been removed, presumably intended for the ill-fated money ritual.

Further investigation has led to the arrest of the ritualist, who maintains his innocence, denying any involvement in requesting Sandra’s demise, insisting that he had merely expected her to be brought to the shrine alive.

The tragic incident has left the community shaken, raising questions about the practices surrounding such rituals and the safety of young children caught in these horrifying circumstances.
