A private legal practitioner, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has emerged victorious in the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Manhyia South constituency.
He won with 376 votes representing 71.48% of valid votes cast while his closest opponent Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, brother to the outgoing MP Matthew Opoku Prempeh, had 141 votes.
Akwasi Coker Gyambibi polled a paltry 2 votes, while James Owusu Boakye came in third with 7 votes.
The primary became necessary after four-time Member of Parliament Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh stepped down, having been nominated as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.
The deputy Majority Leader, Patricia Apiagyei urged the delegates to rally behind Mr Baffour Awuah to break the 8 and retain power come December 7, 2024.
