Mayor Of Kumasi Commissions Furnished Classroom Block For Abrepo MA Basic.2 min read
The Kumasi Metro Chief Executive, Hon Samuel Pyne has commissioned a three classroom block with new studying desks as well as electricity at the Abrepo MA Basic school.
The facility, constructed at a cost of GhC440, 000.00 from the internally generated funds (IGF) at the KMA would help to provide a better teaching atmosphere for the Junior High School pupils who were initially studying at a weak structure in the school.
Speaking at a brief handing over ceremony at the precincts of the cluster of schools, the Kumasi Mayor expressed the desire of the Assembly to consciously carry out development initiatives in the area of education.
“The KMA is consciously investing in education so that it could help to scale up positive outcomes in the performance of schools academically “, the Mayor stated.
Admonition:
The Mayor said education was a shared responsibility and therefore asked parents to show particular interest in the education of their wards.
He also tasked school authorities to give off their best in educating the pupils so they can turn out well in life.
Hon Pyne asked the pupils to see the investments the KMA as well as other stakeholders were making in their education as a motivation and use that to do well with their academics.
“As you see the building here know that it has taken the KMA hours of collection of dues and tolls to ensure it uses it to put this up and so let us collectively and individually do our part by paying what’s due government so that we can see more projects and initiatives to benefit us as a people”, the Mayor stated.
Metro Director of Education:
Addressing the gathering including the Abrepo Chief, Mr David Oppong, Metro Director of Education commended the KMA for consistently and carefully carrying out investments in education.
He noted that the KMA had on Thursday aside similar donation of desks last year presented desks to some schools at the Bantama Sub metro, Nhyiaeso and others.
“I charge school authorities in the Metro Directorate to reciprocate the gesture of KMA by taking good care of the facilities provided and by teaching the pupils well so we could show positive outcomes during examinations” the Director posited.
Chief of Abrepo:
Nana Asante Boateng II, Chief of Abrepo thanked the KMA for deliberately churning out investments towards education.
He asked the school authorities to take good care of the facility so that it could last long for the community.
“I am confident that when we take good care of this facility the KMA will help to address other pressing issues we have in this school including the need for proper toilet facilities here”, the Chief noted.
