2ND JUNE 2024
TO ALL MEDIA HOUSES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEMHREP CALLS FOR END TO NEGLECTION AND HOMELESSNESS OF MENTAL PATIENTS.
There have been growing concerns over the continuous deterioration and deplorable conditions in which mental health patients find themselves in Ghana.
Mental health patients are exposed to the vagaries of the weather with poor sanitation conditions, and without necessities, such as food, water, and shelter. Because of the stigmatisation and discrimination associated with mental illness in Ghana, some mental health patients, are abused or attacked, while others become victims of road crashes
These challenges faced by mental health patients are attributed mainly to the homelessness of these victims.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,
MEMHREP is calling for an end to neglection and homelessness of mental health patients.
Mensah Mental Health Rehabilitation Project (MEMHREP) goal is to complete an ongoing ultra-modern rehabilitation centre in the Ashanti region of Ghana to care for the needs of persons living with mental illness.

The facility, upon completion, will comprise the following:
Bedroom clusters to accommodate up to 500 people.
Workshops and Apprenticeship centre
Conference and Chapel/ Mosque
Doctors and Nurses bedroom flats
Day clinic ( out-patient )
Kitchen/ Dining halls
Waste treatment plant
Outdoor recreational facilities/ park.
MEMHREP is therefore asking corporate bodies, religious and traditional groups, as well as individuals to help financially and materially to complete this project.
MEMHREP believes your contributions would put smiles on the faces of persons with mental illness and other vulnerabilities to make this world a better place for all”.
Signed
