MTN FA Cup: King Faisal, Dreams FC For Historic Final2 min read
While King Faisal came from behind to defeat Nsoatreman FC 3-2 in a grueling battle on Sunday, Dreams FC overpowered SKYY FC 2-1 at the same venue on Saturday.
Next month’s final between King Faisal and Dreams FC is historic as it will be the first time both teams have reached the final of second most prestigious domestic competition.
Incidentally, both teams are caught deep in the relegation battle in the ongoing betPawa Ghana Premier League but they will still have FA Cup glory on their mind to join the list of winners of the competition.
On Sunday, early goals from King Faisal strikers, Baba Yahaya and Frimpong Boateng in the 36th and 45th minutes, respectively, and a 63rd minute strike by substitute Samuel Adom Antwi won the day for King Faisal.
However, it was Nsoatreman FC who opened the scoring early in the game through Samuel Ofori’s ninth minute spot kick, while Kana Kwame Junior scored the other goal in the 55th minute that restored parity until Antwi secured victory for Faisal.
In the first semi-final match honoured at the same venue last Saturday, goals from Sylvester Simba and Ali Huseif in the 2nd and 18th minutes, respectively, were all that Dreams FC need to qualify for the MTN FA Cup final.
Eric Antwi Konadu’s consolation goal for SKYY FC in the 35th minute could not earn lead to a dramatic comeback for the Daboase-based Division One league side.
