Stephen Blewett, the CEO of MTN Ghana, urged final-year students at the University of Ghana’s School of Social Sciences to develop the right attitude for career success.

During his keynote address at the Student-Industry Meeting (SIM) Day, held at the Cedi Conference Center, Mr. Blewett spoke to over 1,000 students on “Preparing for the World of Work: Entrepreneurship Opportunities.”

Mr. Blewett emphasized that while aptitude is important, attitude plays a crucial role in determining one’s career altitude. He shared key elements that have contributed to his success as a CEO, including growth, humility, learning from failure, agility, integrity, and passion. He encouraged students to build strong networks, embrace constant learning, and allow their passion to drive their careers.

He also highlighted the significance of authenticity and maximizing one’s potential, stressing that success is a personal choice. Blewett’s message was complemented by insights from other speakers, including Dr. Daniel McKorley of McDan Group of Companies, MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Dr. Gibrine Adam of EPP Group of Companies, and Nixon Amoah-Awuah from Ecobank Ghana PLC, who collectively encouraged students to seize opportunities for achieving relevance in their fields.
