The MTN Ghana Foundation is thrilled to announce the awarding of 200 scholarships to deserving students enrolled in public tertiary institutions as part of its Bright Scholarship initiative.

These exceptional recipients will receive comprehensive support, covering tuition, housing, and stipends throughout the academic year.

During a ceremony held at MTN House in Accra, CEO Stephen Blewett urged the scholarship recipients to fully embrace this opportunity.

He emphasized that these scholarships are not just financial assistance; they represent a significant investment in the students’ dreams, potential, and futures. Blewett expressed his hope that each recipient would leverage this chance to excel in their studies and contribute meaningfully to society.

The event featured a special guest, the Ministry of Education’s Director for Pre-Tertiary Education, who commended MTN for its initiative and its commitment to supporting underprivileged youth. He encouraged the scholarship recipients to set ambitious goals and make the most of their awards.

In Kumasi, Senior Manager Robert Kuzoe conducted a similar award presentation for the MTN Ghana Foundation.

The MTN Bright Scholarship aims to assist talented yet financially challenged students in public tertiary institutions across Ghana. Each year, scholars are chosen through a rigorous nationwide selection process involving an independent panel. This year, out of 2,499 applicants, 400 were shortlisted for interviews, culminating in the selection of 200 recipients, including 20 students living with disabilities. Notably, 111 of the awardees are male and 89 are female, reflecting MTN’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The scholarship presentation was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Lydia Nyarko Dankwah from the University of Ghana and Nana Baffour Awuah from the Ministry of Education, among others.

Since its inception, Scancom Plc has provided scholarships to over a thousand students. The MTN Bright Scholarship was revamped in 2016 to celebrate MTN Ghana’s 20th anniversary, with a commitment to offering 300 scholarships over three years. Following the successful impact of the program, the scholarship initiative was extended in 2021 during MTN’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
