Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has shown love once again as the world celebrates Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, 14th February, 2024.

So in the Ashanti Region and through MTN Ghana, three Senior High Schools in Kumasi namely: Kumasi High School, Prempeh College and Serwaa Nyarko Girls SHS donated blood to celebrate the Day.

Some staff of MTN and teachers of the 3 schools also joined the students to donate blood.

The exercise was supervised by health workers from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Blood Bank.

Speaking to the press, the General Manager of MTN in charge of Sales of the Northern Region, Nii Adotey Mingle noted that MTN Ghana tries to collect about 6,000 units of blood nationwide.

The objective of the exercise he noted, is to show love to mankind and to save lives.

Nii Adotey Mingle said for the past 13 years, MTN Ghana has not relented in organising blood donation exercises to mark Valentine’s Day.

According to him, MTN Ghana in collaboration with health facilities has since 2011 collected over 27,000 units of blood.

Some of the students who spoke to Time FM were delighted to have participated in the blood donation exercise.

She advised other corporate organizations to emulate the shining example of MTN to help stock the blood bank.

Dr. Lesley Osei underscored the importance of blood donation saying it saves lives of sickle cell patients, accident victims, cancer patients and pregnant women.

“Let me applaud MTN Ghana for this life-saving program and especially on the Valentine’s Day.”
