Napo Donates 150 Lecture Hall Desks To St. Louis College Of Education, 14,000 Books To Basic Schools1 min read
The Energy Minister and MP for Manhyia South, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has donated 150 lecture hall desks to the St. Louis College Of Education in Kumasi.
Napo as he is popularly called also gifted 14,000 books to the basic schools in the Manhyia South Constituency.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh did not leave out the teachers as he donated 20 teachers desks and chairs to the Roman Catholic Girls and the St Louis Demonstration Schools.
Speaking at the presentation, Dr. Opoku Prempeh said it’s the government’s efforts to transform education.
He said one of the pillars in that transformation process is the upgrading and improvement of the public college of education.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh stressed that what His Excellency Nana Addo’s government has done in that regard is not only to improve the curriculums of the colleges but also to transform basic teacher education from a Diploma to a Degree Status.
“Now they will have 4 Levels or 4 Streams very soon such that every teacher who comes out will become a Degree Holder.Also they are gradually coming with Specialism Certificates”, he explained.
The Principal of the College, Monica Konnie Mensah who received the items was grateful to the MP for the gesture.
Like Oliver Twist, she asked for more of such donations revealing that Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has several occasions helped the school including boreholes and poly tanks.
At the Roman Catholic Girls Demonstration JHS, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh advised the pupils to take their studies seriously.
He explained to the pupils that it is only when they stick to their books that they can grow to become their aspirations.
