NAPO Hits Back: If Atta Mills Had Ghost, Mahama Would Be Behind Bars1 min read
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections, has responded sharply to a recent comment made by National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
Mahama had suggested that Dr. Prempeh, often referred to as NAPO, would have been reprimanded by the ghost of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, for a comment he made.
“If Nkrumah had a ghost, he would have slapped NAPO,” Mahama remarked at a rally.
In reply, Dr. Prempeh addressed supporters at a campaign event in Adugyama, Ahafo Ano South East, Ashanti Region. He countered that if the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills had a ghost, Mahama would be incarcerated by now.
“If Mills had a ghost, John Mahama would be in jail by now,” Prempeh declared, earning loud applause from the audience.
Dr. Prempeh is actively campaigning throughout the Ashanti Region, advocating the NPP’s platform of “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future.” During his campaign, he has criticized Mahama’s administration, particularly noting the power shortages during Mahama’s presidency.
“We had a President, John Mahama, who let Ghanaians endure four years of darkness, but he seems to think we have forgotten this failure,” Prempeh said.
He also stressed that the best way to continue the progress made under policies like the Free Senior High School initiative is by supporting the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
