Seth Terkper, former Finance Minister, has introduced a 30-page book titled “For The Record,” which details the developmental projects completed in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Accra, under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
The book, written by Raphael Apetorgbor, Deputy Communications Officer for the constituency, offers a thorough account of various infrastructure projects, some of which have been overlooked by the current Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.
“For The Record” highlights significant developments, including the Sowutuom Court Complex, the Ga Central Municipal Assembly Building, multi-storey school buildings, the Awoshie-Pokuase Highway, and improvements to local markets. These projects are showcased as evidence of the NDC’s dedication to advancing the constituency.
At the book launch held in Ablekuma, Accra, Mr. Terkper praised Mr. Apetorgbor for his comprehensive documentation of the NDC’s achievements in the area. He urged party members and leaders to utilize the book as a strategic resource to garner support, emphasizing that it provides crucial counter-evidence to debunk claims of inaccuracies in the NDC’s Green Book.
“We are presenting the community with the facts so they can counter false claims about our projects and recognize the NDC’s contributions,” Mr. Terkper stated. He also encouraged NDC communication officers nationwide to emulate Mr. Apetorgbor’s approach, highlighting the importance of letting “the evidence speak for us.”
Mr. Terkper also stressed the importance of responsible fiscal management for sustainable development and reiterated the NDC’s commitment to focusing on infrastructural growth across all communities.
Mr. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, emphasized the need for truth and unity within the party. He urged NDC supporters and the general public to back the party, promising that the NDC would fulfill all its manifesto commitments if re-elected.
He commended Mr. Apetorgbor for his bravery and dedication in documenting the truth through his book.
In discussing his motivation for “For The Record,” Mr. Apetorgbor expressed concern over the misinformation about the NDC’s projects in the Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency. He worried that without factual counter-narratives, such misinformation might gain influence.
“This book is not just a collection of photos and text; it is a thorough record of our accomplishments,” he said. Mr. Apetorgbor emphasized that the evidence presented in the book starkly contrasts with the claims made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), highlighting the significant contributions of the previous NDC government.
