The Deputy Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has assured Ghanaians that every decision made by the government in relation to ECOWAS, particularly committing to interventions in Niger, would be in the overall interest of all citizens of Ghana, depending on the resources available.

The Deputy Minister has been speaking on ‘Key Points’ in the wake of concerns about the safety and Security of Ghanaian Nationals in Niger following the political impasse there and the decision by ECOWAS to declare war on the Junta after it toppled President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26, 2023, and failed to adhere to the deadline by ECOWAS to revert to normalcy.

President of the Ghanaian Community in Niger, Seidu Abudu, says he is apprehensive over concerns of a potential attack on Niger by ECOWAS.

There have been questions about how Africans and Ghanaians will be situated in the event of an attack on Niger. And the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Dr Abdel-Fatau Musah, has been explaining that the decision by ECOWAS to use military intervention to restore order in Niger is to prevent the situation from worsening.
