NPP Appointees Hindering Bawumia’s Presidential Campaign – Drivers Group <span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">2</span> min read</span>

The Alliance of Drivers Ghana, formerly known as Drivers for Change, has voiced serious concerns over the lack of support from government officials, despite their loyalty to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a press statement, the group disclosed that its executives have been using personal funds to finance media engagements and press activities. They revealed that President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo assigned their group to the Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Asiamah, who has since ignored their calls for assistance.

The group also lamented that regional and national offices have sidelined them, favoring the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), whose members do not necessarily support the NPP.

Having campaigned against former President Mahama in 2016, the drivers are now urging Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene, citing their commitment to securing an NPP victory but lacking the necessary resources. Meanwhile, they noted that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is actively supporting its affiliated drivers’ group.

*PRESS STATEMENT*

*ALLIANCE OF DRIVERS GHANA*
*For Immediate Release: 25th September 2024*

*NPP Appointees Sabotaging Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Presidential Bid*

The Alliance of Drivers Ghana, formerly Drivers for Change, expresses deep concern over the lack of support from government appointees.

Despite our efforts to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP), our national executive members have been using personal funds to motivate media for press releases and conferences.

We were handed over to the Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Asiamah, by H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, but he has refused to assist us.

Our calls to regional and national offices go unanswered, and we’ve been ignored in favor of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), whose members are not necessarily party supporters.

As drivers who worked against Mahama in the 2016 general election, we urge Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene. We’re committed to breaking the eight, but it requires hard work and resources, which are currently lacking.

In contrast, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) supports its drivers’ group to pressure the government.

We call on Dr. Bawumia to come to our aid.

*God bless the NPP party.*
*God bless our homeland Ghana.*
*God bless our candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.*

Signed:

General Secretary: George Baffuor Owusu Afriyie
