Obiri Boahen Issues Stark Warning to Former NPP MPs Eyeing Independent Bids in 2024 Elections1 min read
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has raised concerns over a faction of ex-New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentarians considering running as Independent candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Boahen urged these individuals to reflect on the advantages they’ve received from the party prior to making such a significant decision.
Expressing his sentiments in an interview, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen passionately asserted that divine support would never desert Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP in the upcoming December polls.
“Some individuals may place their trust in earthly elements, but our faith remains firmly anchored in the Divine,” he declared.
The former NPP deputy general secretary’s impassioned remarks come in the wake of former Ejisu constituency MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who contested the Ejisu by-election independently, posing a considerable challenge to the ruling party.
Reflecting on the by-election outcome, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen emphasized the NPP’s need to draw lessons and encouraged party members to actively participate to avoid internal disunity.
He cautioned against favoritism in candidate selection within the party, warning of impending peril if the NPP fails to broaden opportunities for card-bearing members.
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stated that should he manage to facilitate Dr. Bawumia becoming President, he will reserve the right to make his own decision thereafter.
