The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has accepted an invitation to Trinidad and Tobago for a state visit in July of this year.
Whilst in Trinidad and Tobago, the Asantehene would attend an Emancipation Day programme of the host country on July 30, 2023.
The invitation was announced by Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago accredited to Ghana but resident in Abuja, Nigeria.
On Friday, he paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region’s capital.
“On July 30, 2023, the people of Trinidad would feel proud to see a true African King to celebrate with us on our Emancipation Day.
“This historic visit was supposed to take place in 2020 but it was cancelled because of the advent of the Covid-19”, he disclosed.
Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro expressed his delight that the Asantehene would finally pay his first visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
The Asantehene stated in his brief remarks that he had accepted the invitation to visit Trinidad and Tobago this year.
“I have accepted your invitation and I am looking forward to visiting your country,” the Asante King said.
Otumfuo expressed his hope for an enjoyable visit, emphasising the importance of collaboration between Trinidad & Tobago and Ghana.
