Over 6,000 Nurses Have Left Ghana Since August 2023 – GRNMA1 min read
Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), revealed that around 6,000 nurses have left Ghana in search of better opportunities since August 2023.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, March 31, Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo emphasized the importance of improving service conditions for healthcare professionals to ensure optimal performance, regardless of their location.
She underscored the need for comprehensive improvements in the health sector to address the issue of brain drain, stating that mere provision of drones is insufficient.
Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo also highlighted challenges faced by healthcare workers in rural areas, stressing the need for adequate equipment, medications, and storage systems to be readily available.
