In alignment with the belief that assessing students on what they have learned is essential; it turns education into a journey of growth and understanding, rather than a mere collection of facts, Perfect Star Media in collaboration with Perfect Grade Publications, under the leadership of Pastor Philip Sarpong, have initiated an assessment competition for 18 schools in the Ashanti Region.
This competition, targeting pupils in Basic 4-6, is designed to evaluate their understanding based on the new curriculum introduced by NACCA.
The inaugural event commenced on May 27, 2024, with American Dream Educational Complex and Afaus Lovely School being the first to participate.
Pastor Sarpong, Chief Executive Officer of Perfect Grade Publications speaking exclusively with Time News emphasized his dedication to education, noting that the organization has consistently sponsored educational competitions to enhance their appeal and impact.
Pastor Sarpong said he introduced this assessment competition to shift the focus from traditional question-and-answer formats to a more comprehensive evaluation of students’ learning.
“The competition aims to become an annual national event, with the winning school receiving Ghc10,000, a trophy, medals, certificates, citations, and souvenirs. The second, third, and fourth place schools will also receive monetary awards and recognition,” he said.
Pastor Sarpong encouraged schools, parents, and guardians to invest in Perfect Series textbooks to further enhance their wards’ knowledge and skills.
Mr. Gariba Alumpong, Director of American Dream Educational Complex, expressed satisfaction with their participation, highlighting the competition’s role in assessing the educational efforts of schools.
Similarly, Mr. Samuel Akwasi Akwaboah, Headteacher of Afaus Lovely School, expressed confidence in their chances of winning, crediting the Perfect Series textbooks for their past successes.
The competition has generated enthusiasm among students, with participants from both schools expressing readiness and determination to succeed.
