Prof Opoku-Agyemang Will Restore Dignity of Vice Presidency

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed strong confidence in the capabilities of Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the party’s Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

At the official introduction of Prof Opoku-Agyemang on April 24th at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Mr. Kwetey remarked that Prof Opoku-Agyemang would revive the honor of the presidential office.

He also voiced optimism that the partnership of John Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang would bring relief to Ghanaians if elected in the 2024 elections.

Mr. Kwetey criticized the current tenure of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that it had diminished to an unprecedented low.

He remarked, “The country is facing a collapse, not just physically, but a moral collapse over the past nearly 8 years. Our nation’s condition is at its lowest point. Ghanaians are enduring immense suffering.”

He continued, “We believe she [Prof Opoku-Agyemang] is capable of aiding our flagbearer to offer relief and inspiration to Ghanaians. In the past 8 years, we have witnessed a drastic decline in the dignity of the office she is poised to assume. It has become synonymous with deceit, lack of credibility, and corruption, reducing governance to a farce.”

Addressing Prof Opoku-Agyemang directly, he added, “In you, Naana Jane, we perceive not only integrity but also someone who will restore that office to its former glory. The current state of the office is disheartening, but we have faith that you will elevate it once again.”
