Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan had a hilarious reaction after several Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and him, lost their verified badge as Twitter deleted it from accounts that did not pay for its monthly subscription service. Taking to his unverified Twitter handle, Amitabh said that he has ‘paid’ for the ‘blue lotus’ and urged that his blue tick be restored.

Amitabh wrote, “T 4623- Hey Twitter Are you listening? Now I have given the money too… so that blue lotus is there, right, put it back brother, so that people know that we are the ones – Amitabh Bachchan. I am folding my hands, should I fall at your feet now?”

Fans and internet users had a hilarious reaction to Amitabh’s tweet. One of the users said “Thank you for this historic day @elonmusk. Never thought a day would come when Amitabh Bachchan didn’t have a blue tick, but I, a common man did.” Another said, “Sir thoda time lagta hai1-2 din me aa jayega.”

The verified badge was earlier given to Twitter accounts that are deemed to be of public interest, such as those belonging to celebrities, public figures, or brands. Famous personalities like Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rahul Gandhi among others lost their blue tick as a result of Elon Musk’s new paid feature. Twitter started removing blue ticks from thousands of legacy accounts on Thursday after several delays.

According to the Associated Press, Twitter had around 300,000 verified users. Now, the cost of keeping the blue check mark ranges from $8 for individuals, $1000 per month for organisations, and $50 per month for accounts affiliated with organisations.
