The Future Of Ghana’s Agriculture Is Bleak; Leaders & Citizens Don’t Think – Concerned Farmers Association1 min read
President of the Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, has raised concerns about the lack of progress in the country’s agriculture sector emphasizing that the leaders and citizens of Ghana need to apply their knowledge to bring about improvements in the sector.
According to Mr. Bonsu, there is lack of future planning and a clear roadmap for the development of agriculture in Ghana.
Speaking on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM, he criticized politicians for prioritizing personal gains over the welfare of the agricultural industry.
Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu highlighted that politicians have taken center stage in Ghana’s agriculture sector, leaving little room for the voices and needs of farmers.
He expressed his disappointment with the criticism of farmers coming from individuals from poor backgrounds.
Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu argued that these individuals, who have little understanding of the challenges faced by farmers, should not be the ones to judge their work.
The President of Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana pointed out that the second phase of the government’s “Planting for Food and Jobs” initiative lacked the involvement of key stakeholders. This omission, he claimed, hindered the program’s effectiveness and limited its potential impact on the agricultural sector.
He asserted that Ghana lacks a comprehensive future plan for the country and its future generations. He called for a more inclusive approach to agriculture.
