The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday, January 27, 2024, elected its parliamentary candidates in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

The election was the final leg of the party’s internal exercise ahead of the December 7 general election.

Disappointment and surprise marked the Saturday’s primaries as several prominent incumbents saw their bids for re-election dashed.

Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu who didn’t seek re-election urged the failed aspirants to throw away the bitterness and support the candidates who won for the sake of the interest of the party.

In an interview on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM 97.7MHz, he said breaking the eight-year political cycle is not on a silver platter but with unity, the party can break it.
