A former Minister for Foreign Affairs and past Lawmaker for Ejisu-Juaben, Hon. Akwasi Osei Adjei has called on Parliament to review the Dual Citizenship Law.
According to Hon Osei Adjei, the country should benefit from the positive aspect of dual citizens and shun the negative aspect.
In an interview on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show on Friday, he said “With dual citizenship there are some things you can’t do.”
Touching on the embattled Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quasyon’s case, Hon Osei Adjei said there should be equality before the law.
Mr. Gyakye Quayson was cited for holding a dual citizenship during the 2020 parliamentary elections and was since an MP in absentia, hence being denied the opportunity to serve his constituents.
He added that there should be no discrimination.
