Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu says Ghanaians and the government are to be blamed for building on waterways.
Dr Kwabena Kokofu said this is because of a systemic failure.
Speaking on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show with Kwame Koranteng on Tuesday, he said the EPA has a law regulating people who execute properties on waterways.
“It is totally wrong to build on waterways. In this age of science and technology, you can execute a property at waterlogged areas to enhance the beauty and ecosystem without obliterating the waterways but it comes with a cost,” he said.
Dr Kwabena Kokofu stated that those who destroy waterways out of negligence must face full rigorous of the law.
