Nana Akwasi Prempeh, President of the Federation of Kumasi Traders, has revealed that the new Kejetia Market has no insurance cover.
According to Nana Prempeh, before the fire engulfed the new Kejetia market in March 2022, every trader in the market had paid an insurance fee of GHc 550,000 per month to management from May 2020.
He said on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show on Friday that, the insurance cover expired in October 2021 but the traders kept on paying the insurance fee until February 2023.
The President of the Federation of Kumasi Traders said “if the Ghana National Fire Service has the balls, they should have shut down the market per the LI they use to regulate public facilities.
