The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) on Tuesday, 22/08/2023, announced an increase in tariffs for electricity and water by 4.22% and 1.18%, respectively, effective 1 September 2023.
The announcement follows the conclusion of regulatory processes for the quarterly adjustment of tariffs by the regulator.
The quarterly tariff review mechanism seeks to track and incorporate changes in critical factors used to determine tariffs for natural gas, electricity, and water.
In an interview on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show, the Executive Secretary for PURC, Dr Ishmael Ackah explained the reasons for the adjustment.
