Officials have confirmed that the burnt body of a 28-year-old woman, Rose Minta, was recovered after firefighters battled a blaze at Ritz Junction near Madina in Accra.

The fierce fire had razed multiple wooden structures and metal containers, which were used for both commercial and residential purposes.

Firefighters are currently working to completely extinguish all pockets of fire. However, the Ghana National Fire Service, unfortunately, discovered the lifeless body of Rose Minta in one of the burnt wooden structures. She was believed to be sick and bedridden.

The Ghana National Fire Service has handed over the charred body of the victim to the Police for preservation and further investigation.

To contain the situation from escalating, four fire engines were initially deployed to the scene of the fire.

This unfortunate incident comes after parts of the Makola Market were gutted by fire.

The cause of both fires is currently unknown and under investigation.
