Twenty Five (25) Identifiable Groups At Central Market Declare Support For NPP.
Twenty Five (25) identifiable trading groups in the Kumasi Central Market on Monday held a press conference to pledge their support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP and its 2024 flag-bearer, Dr Mahamodu Bawumia.
Addressing the media, Group Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Jackey said it was untrue that traders at the market arena had decided to vote against the NPP in 2024.
He noted that contrary to those claims, the identifiable groups are aware of efforts by the government to begin phase two of the Kejetia Redevelopment Project.
‘’We heard a certain group claim that they will not vote for the NPP because the second phase of the Kejetia project had stalled but as we sit here all the traders here know that contractor has only asked for an upward adjustment of the contract sum due to economic reasons using the outbreak of COVID-19 as a factor in their demands’’, Elder Jackey stated.
Details:
The Chairman said his members were aware about the massive projects the NPP government was carrying out in the Ashanti Region.
Some of these projects, he noted, were ongoing and are visible to see, adding that this speaks to the determination of the government to continue with all others that had stalled because of economic conditions.
Elder Jackey said the group had received the assurance that phase two of the Kejetia project would be completed very soon and so it gives them no reason to say they would not take part in the upcoming general elections in December.
‘’We are aware of the road constructions going on from Bekwai Roundabout to Santasi, Asuofia to Ohwim as well as many other hospital projects ongoing in the region and this shows that the phase two of this market would be continued soon’’, the Chairman stressed.
Secretary:
Nana Bea Addo, Secretary to the identifiable groups noted that the traders at the market were determined to vote in the upcoming general elections.
This, she said, was because they know which party has shown commitment to the development of the country.
She wondered why the traders or Ghanaians would stay back from voting for the NPP and Dr Bawumia having benefited from the good policies including free senior high school which has lessened the burden on the shoulders of parents in Ghana.
‘’Let everyone in the country hear us well and that we at the Kumasi Central Market will vote and do so for the NPP because they have shown commitment to our welfare and development’’, Nana Bea stated.
