Chelsea Forward Aubameyang Agrees To Join Marseille1 min read
Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the verge of departing the club as he finalizes a deal with Marseille.
The 34-year-old’s time at Chelsea has been underwhelming, with just three goals scored in 22 appearances since his £10.3 million move from Barcelona last September.
Notably, Aubameyang has been excluded from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States, indicating that his departure is imminent.
The club have witnessed several player exits during the summer transfer window, including Kai Havertz, who joined Arsenal, and Mason Mount, who left for Manchester United.
Despite arriving at Chelsea under the management of Thomas Tuchel, who he had previously worked with at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang encountered a challenging spell as Tuchel was subsequently sacked.
Under Graham Potter’s tenure, Aubameyang was left out of the Champions League squad, with Havertz often preferred in the forward role.
While he did feature under Frank Lampard after Potter’s departure in April, Aubameyang struggled to make a significant impact on the pitch. With just 12 months remaining on his contract, the Gabon international’s departure from Chelsea appears to be on the horizon.
