The Ghana Cocoa calendar has for the first time been changed by Cocoabod.

President Nana Akufo Addo is expected to announce new cocoa price for the next crop season.

Currently cocoa farmers across the country have halted selling harvested cocoa for purchasing clicks across the cocoa growing district.

A development Cocoabod is avoiding so it does not affect the Ghanaian cocoa quality compelling the government to open this year’s crop season earlier than ever.

The move is also expected to check hoarding of cocoa by farmers awaiting new season price.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, Chief Executive of the Cocoa Board, Joseph Boahen Aidoo said the decision is expected to create comfort for the farmers market to enable them cater for the educational needs of their children as schools re-opon.

He added that although the cocoa price is to be increased upward, he explains the new price will not reflect much as the international market price.

The CEO announced the reopening of the new cocoa crop season which starts Saturday 9th September 2023.
