The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) together with the Ghana Postal Services have launched a nationwide driver license delivery service.
With the new service, DVLA’s customers now have the opportunity to request for delivery when they apply for the driver’s license at a flat competitive rate of GH¢30 per delivery for all destinations across the country.
Chief Executive Officer, DVLA, Kwasi Agyeman Busia, said the inter government agency collaboration is a step towards a more efficient and effective service delivery to DVLA clients across the country.
He indicated that a major challenge the authority faced was that of uncollected licenses.
He, thus, noted that with the collaboration, the authority would be able to significantly reduce the number of uncollected licenses and ensure that customers are able to access their license with ease and convenient.
“Today’s collaboration is about reimagining how we can use the collaborative resources to better serve our citizens,” he said. “It is about harnessing the power of technology and building partnerships that enable us to achieve our goals.”
Managing Director, Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffour, said the service comes with a full track and trace capability, proof of delivery and insurance cover should there be any unforeseen situation with the driver’s license picked up by Ghana Post.
“Standard operating procedures will also enable DVLA have full visibility and delivery information of the drivers’ licenses that are handed over to Ghana Post for delivery,” he said.
Mr. Kuffour indicated that already, the company was offering delivery services for some banks in the country and thanked the DVLA management for believing in Ghana Post and giving it the opportunity to showcase its efficiency, speed, reliability and on time delivery to the Ghanaian driving public.
He expressed the hope that the service would receive the needed endorsement from the public saying, “today we birth a major step of convenience for our customers, a major step that will make compliance our friend.”
