During his visit to the Oti Region, Dr. Bawumia assured NPP supporters of a “breakthrough” in NDC’s traditional support bases.

He conveyed his confidence in being the preferred candidate over other NPP contenders, citing his winning spirit as the trump card for success.

Addressing party members in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude for their overwhelming support during the Super Delegates Conference and urged them to replicate the same energy and commitment in the November 4 election.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the skepticism of citizens in the Zongo communities concerning the NPP’s chances of making him their flagbearer.

However, he confidently stated that should he emerge as the flagbearer, the NDC would suffer significant losses in their traditional strongholds, particularly in the North and Zongo communities.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia promised to make significant inroads in the Volta Region, traditionally an NDC stronghold.

His determination to challenge the NDC’s dominance in these regions is believed to be the reason behind the Party’s opposition to him becoming the flagbearer.

Drawing on his experience from previous elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia claimed to be the best candidate to match the NDC in the 2024 Elections.

He likened the upcoming election to a World Final match, emphasizing the need for a striker with experience to score goals, and positioning himself as the best candidate for the NPP.

Later in the day, the Vice President joined Ghana’s Ambassador to Togo, Nana Kofi Mensah Dematiah, in mourning the loss of his sister-in-law.

The burial took place on Saturday September 9, 2023, coinciding with Dr. Bawumia’s visit to Kete Krachi in the Oti Region.

As the 2024 general election draws closer, the political landscape in Ghana is set to witness intense competition and eager anticipation for the outcome.
