Mahama: Police Intimidation Tactics Backfire, Awutu Senya East Seat Now Favors NDC1 min read
Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the arrest and detention of NDC parliamentary aspirant, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, in Awutu Senya East, labeling it as a failed attempt to intimidate and scare her off.
Mahama accused the NPP government of selective justice and inequality, citing the contrasting treatment of Naa Koryoo and incumbent MP Hawa Koomson, who fired a weapon at a voter registration center without facing consequences.
Mahama pointed out the hypocrisy of Naa Koryoo’s detention for legally possessing a firearm, while Koomson went free after openly firing a weapon.
He believes the incident has actually boosted Naa Koryoo’s chances, stating, “If the government thought they could break her spirit with that politically orchestrated arrest, they have instead handed the Awutu Senya East parliamentary seat to the young woman, who towers above the incumbent in every way.”
