The Electoral Commission (EC) has responded to a circulating video depicting an alleged bribery incident at the ongoing Ejisu Constituency By-Elections. The video, surfacing on social media, purportedly shows a bribery attempt at the Fumesua Pentecost Church Polling Station (Polling Station Code F311503).

In the footage, an individual is seen approaching the polling station table and placing an envelope on it, where the Presiding Officer and Ballot Issuer are stationed.

In light of this development, the EC has swiftly taken action by withdrawing the two temporary staff involved while launching investigations into the matter.

Deputy Chairman, Operations, Samuel Tettey, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to upholding principles of integrity, truth, and transparency, which are instilled during the training of all temporary staff. Any actions that compromise the institution’s integrity will face repercussions, with officials held accountable for violating regulations.

A comprehensive report on the incident will be released to the public in due course, ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
