On May 24, 2023, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ Tina Turner passed on. As the world mourns the passing of the iconic musician, here are some facts many of her fans and admirers do not know about her four sons.

Tina Turner’s death:

The charismatic vocalist reportedly died after a long illness at her home in Switzerland. Turner’s team confirmed her death via her official social media pages. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner”.

With over six decades of an outstanding career, the vocal powerhouse blessed and entertained people with songs like ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’, ‘Private Dancer’, ‘Simply the Best’, and ‘Proud Mary’, among several others.

Tina’s demise came six months after her youngest son, Ronnie Turner died after battling colon cancer.

Tina had three other children with her ex-husband, Ike Turner; and they are – Craig Raymond Turner, Ike Turner Jr., and Michael Turner.

Craig and Ronnie were her biological sons, while she adopted Ike’s two boys – Turner Jr. and Michael.

Craig Raymond Turner

Tina welcomed her first son, Craig Raymond Turner in 1958. She was 18 at the time. The singer was in a relationship with Saxophonist Raymond Hill, a member of Ike Turner’s band Kings of Rhythm.

Sadly in July 2018, Craig died in what has been said to be suicide in his California home. He was 59.

Turner held a ceremony in his honour. She shared a tweet that read:

“My saddest moment as a mother. I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”

Ronnie Renelle Turner

Ronald “Ronnie” Renelle Turner is Tina’s youngest child. He was also the only child Ike and Tina had together. Born in October 1960, Ronnie reportedly worked alongside his late mother in the 1993 film ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’.

He was married to singer Afida Turner. He died on December 8, 2018, after battling colon cancer. His wife shared a statement on Instagram which read, “My God, Ronnie Turner, a true angel, huge soul, highly spiritual, my husband, my best friend, my baby.”

Ike Turner Jr.

Tina adopted two of Ike Turner’s six children. Tina’s eldest child, Ike Turner Jr., was born in 1958. Like his parents, he built a music career and won a Grammy in 2016, in the Traditional Blues Album category for producing his father’s album ‘Risin’ With The Blues’.

Ike Jr and Tina were estranged for almost two decades. In a 2018 interview with Dailymail, Ike Jr said, “Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known. I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when – probably around 2000. I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.”

Michael Turner

Michael is Ike Turner’s youngest son from his relationship with Lorraine Taylor. Not so much is known about him as he does a fine job avoiding the media. However, a source told Fox News that Michael and his brothers Ike and Ronnie were ‘devastated’ to have been left out of Tina Turner’s HBO Max documentary titled ‘Tina.’
