The chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has pledged to oversee a fair, transparent, and credible process for the election of the party’s national officers.
Speaking after the inauguration of the committee, Opare-Ansah said the body was committed to conducting the elections in strict accordance with the NPP Constitution and the party’s electoral regulations.
“We recognize the enormous responsibility entrusted to us. We are determined to ensure that every stage of the process is conducted with fairness, transparency, integrity and strict adherence to the Constitution and the rules governing the elections,” he said.
The committee has been tasked with planning, organising and supervising all processes leading to the party’s National Conference, where national officers will be elected.
Opare-Ansah, a former Member of Parliament for Suhum, chairs the committee, with Atewa East MP Abena Osei Asare serving as Vice Chairperson and Evans Nimako as Secretary.
Other members are Oboshie Sai Cofie, Anthony Abayifa Karbo, Salam Ama Appianin Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman—who will assume office after the conclusion of the Ashanti Regional elections—and Frank Davies.
Opare-Ansah described the assignment as one that extends beyond organising an internal election, saying the committee had a responsibility to protect the party’s democratic values and maintain confidence in its electoral processes.
“This responsibility goes beyond the conduct of an election. It is about safeguarding the democratic traditions, unity and credibility of our Party,” he said.
He appealed to all aspirants, party executives and members to cooperate with the committee by complying with the party’s rules and procedures throughout the election period.
According to him, the committee will engage stakeholders at every stage of the process to promote transparency, build confidence and address concerns as they arise.
The inauguration of the National Elections Committee marks the beginning of preparations for the NPP’s National Conference, where delegates will elect a new national executive leadership to steer the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
