Peter Toobu, a Member of Parliament and a part of the Defence and Interior Committee, has voiced concerns over Ghana’s regression, attributing it to rampant nepotism in the security services recruitment processes.

Toobu highlighted a disturbing trend where unqualified individuals are favored due to connections, undermining the nation’s progress.

In an interview on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM, Toobu painted a grim picture of a future where citizens might fear those in uniform, unsure if they are legitimate security personnel or not.

He emphasized that this issue transcends regional boundaries, posing a significant threat to national security.

Toobu stressed that the youth unemployment exacerbates the problem, making it a breeding ground for potential security threats. He said unless decisive action is taken to address nepotism and ensure merit-based recruitment, Ghana risks further stagnation and insecurity.
