Muslim leaders in the Bosome Freho District have honored the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon Akwasi Darko Boateng for his commitment to their welfare.

The elders said the MP has shown commitment to the course of Muslims and single handedly sponsored one of their own to Mecca.

This gesture, the elders noted was significant because they could only boast of two persons who had undertaken the journey so far with the first doing so in 1969.

At a brief ceremony, the leaders conferred on the MP the title “Alhaji Abubakar Saddick” which means “Man of Truth”.

The elders also decorated the MP in an Alhaji-like costume.

Speaking at the ceremony, the freshest Alhaji, Tamimu Sualihu noted his appreciation to the MP for sponsoring his trip to Mecca to enable him to undertake and fulfil one of the pillars of Islam.

He said every Muslim desired to have this experience once in a lifetime.

Alhaji Sualihu therefore commended the MP for the honor done to his modest person.

“I thank my MP for showing commitment to the course and development of the Muslim communities in Bosome Freho and for sponsoring me to undertake a pillar of my faith in Mecca”, Alhaji Sualihu stressed.

Speaking later at the ceremony, Hon Akwasi Darko Boateng expressed happiness at the show of appreciation by the Muslim leaders and worshippers.

He stated that what he has done so far has been his modest contribution to the development of the Muslim community and its people.

The MP noted that his desire was to do more to ensure that every community and faith persons or groups in the constituency enjoy from the good policies of the NPP government.

“I am truly encouraged by this show of appreciation by the Muslim community and i promise to do more for the development of this constituency and its people”, Hon Boateng stated.
