The Manhyia Palace Museum has unveiled a collection of repatriated artifacts that were looted from the Asante Kingdom during British colonial rule.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II hailed the return of these cultural treasures as a symbolic resurgence of Africa’s spirit, inviting the public to witness them at the Manhyia Palace Museum.

Under a loan agreement of three years, which is open to extension, the artifacts have been returned by the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum to the Asante Kingdom.

Among the 35 returned artifacts are significant pieces such as the sword of state, a gold peace pipe, and various silver and gold ornaments.

Expressing gratitude during the exhibition ceremony, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II recounted the historical negotiations initiated by his predecessors, emphasizing the importance of preserving and showcasing these cultural relics for future generations.
