In the spotlight following her official introduction as John Mahama’s running mate for the 2024 general elections by the opposition NDC on April 24th, 2024, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang faced sharp criticism from Lawyer Adomako Baafi, former Communications Director of the NPP.

The unveiling ceremony occurred at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).

In her address, Prof. Opoku Agyemang asserted her commitment, alongside John Dramani Mahama, to address corruption within the Akufo-Addo administration if they secure victory in the upcoming elections, characterizing it not as a threat but as a promise.

In response on the Ama Ghana Morning Show, Lawyer Adomako Baafi reminded Prof. Opoku Agyemang of her past ties to the ‘corrupt’ NPP, citing her tenure as the first female Vice Chancellor during the presidency of John Agyekum Kufour.

He emphasized her historical association with the NPP and implied that she benefited from the party’s alleged corruption.

Lawyer Adomako Baafi argued that the NPP has demonstrated unparalleled dedication to combating corruption compared to other governments, implicitly challenging Prof. Opoku Agyemang’s assertions.

Lawyer Adomako Baafi criticized Prof. Opoku Agyemang for not addressing educational issues during her speech, suggesting that she missed an opportunity to offer more substantive commentary given her background.
